From a trading post to national monument The foundation date for Paraty differs depending on the historian. Rio das ostras is A city located less than 30 km from  city Macaé and about 165 km from Rio de Janeiro. Rio das Ostras has just above 105 000 inhabitants and is a strongly growing city. A place of exuberant nature, sun and beaches. Here you can find 15 beaches and can choose between beaches with calm water for swimming or wilder with great waves for surfing. Rio das ostras is a bit cheaper than Buzios and with less tourists especially foreign tourists, so if you wish to meet Brazilian people this is a better option than Buzios. When people travel to Rio de Janeiro they usually visit Buzios or maybe Petropolis, but this is not a very common destination for many foreign tourists but a very charming city.
